Roy Conacher is a Partner in our Real Estate Law Group. He has been practising real estate, land use planning, development and environmental, wills & estates, corporate, commercial and municipal law in Kingston and Toronto for more than 37 years. Currently, Roy's practice focuses primarily on real estate development, and business law.

For the past 10 years Roy has also served as a Small Claims Court Judge. He is a former Regional Vice-Chair of the Consent and Capacity Board (Health Care Consent Act) and a former Independent Chairperson, Correctional Service of Canada. He was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1984.

Among many other community and volunteer appointments, Roy has been a Municipal Councillor with the former Kingston Township, and Chairman of the Kingston Township Transit Commission. He has served as President of the International Ice Hockey Federation Museum, President of the Rotary-Kiwanis Minor Hockey Association, Warden of St. George's Cathedral, and past Chair of the Professional Division of the United Way campaign. Roy is currently Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Ontario and a member of the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services.

Called to the Bar in 1971 after graduation from Osgoode Hall Law School, Roy Conacher practised in Toronto for 3 years before moving to Kingston in 1973. After practising in partnership with John Gerretsen, the current MPP and Minister of Environment, Roy established an independent practice in 1996. In 2002, he joined Cunningham Swan and is a partner in the firm.
